Belize Vacation Packages


Belize is a small country, about the size of Massachusetts, which makes its diversity of sea, jungle, rainforest, mountains, caves, rivers, ruins and islands all the more remarkable. 

But, because of its small size, a Belize vacation of a week or more can combine jungle, mountains and sea -- either through day trips from one location, or by splitting time between a jungle lodge and a seaside resort.

We've put together some sample Belize vacation packages for the 2007/2008 Winter/Spring Belize vacation season, including costs, to help you in planning your Belize vacation. 

Plus, our Jungle/Beach Mix and Match packages allow you to combine different jungle and beach locations and get a rough idea of costs for different variations, including transfers.

Southern Jungles
and Southern Seas


Hickatee Cottages in the Jungle of the Toledo District in Southern BelizeThe Southern Jungles and Southern Seas package starts at the very special Hickatee Cottages located just outside Punta Gorda Town in the southernmost Toledo District of Belize.

Hickatee is small (only 3 very comfortable cottages), literally carved out of the jungle, and beautifully landscaped with native southern Belize jungle plants.  Howler Monkeys call on both sides of the lodge day and night, and the birding is wonderful -- as are the meals cooked by Kate Morton, one of the owners of Hickatee (along with Ian, her husband).  

During your stay at Hickatee, you'll visit the Lubaantun Mayan ruins, kayak the Joe Taylor Creek with an expert birding and kayaking guide, hike the jungle and swim under a jungle waterfall.  (If you've ever dreamed of diving into a pure jungle river backed by a cascading jungle waterfall, this is your chance to indulge those Tarzan fantasies). 

 

Placencia Beach, Placencia Peninsula, BelizeOn the fourth day of your southern Belize jungle and beach adventure, you'll take a short flight from the Punta Gorda airstrip to Placencia Village, a small Creole fishing village that many people say may be the most laid back place in Central or South America. (In addition to being laid back, Placencia also has the best beaches on mainland Belize.)

Las Amigas Cabanas, Placencia, BelizeLodging in Placencia can be in a small beach cabana, such as Las Amigas, shown at left, Westwind Hotel, a small family-owned beach hotel on one of Placencia's best beaches, or a first floor beach apartment with full kitchen, living/dining area, verandah, and wonderful hosts.

Placencia activities include a snorkeling trip to Laughing Bird Caye, and and a Monkey River tour.

Belize Tropical Island Getaways

The location of The Tides is a good one, too.  About a 10 minute walk into San Pedro Town, close enough to allow guests to sample lots of local restaurants, go to a few local dances and get to know some native San Pedranos, while also being far enough away to be quiet and peaceful.  And, with only 12 air conditioned rooms in an oceanfront British colonial style building (including a a swimming pool) means lots of individual attention in very comfortable surroundings.
